2024 Fredericksburg Jazz Festival - April 13th

Judges for the festival will be Stephen Cox and Karlos Elizondo.

Things provided with registration:

Stage Performance in the FHS Auditorium with summary of comments from a Clinician afterward. 

Professional sound set up/recording. 

Jazz/Instrument masterclasses offered throughout the day. 

Feature Concert with The Power House Big Band

No music requirements for general performances!

OPTIONAL Big Band Era Competition- Groups that interested in the Battle of Music Award 2024, must play at least one piece from the big band era (30's-40's). 

The National Museum of the Pacific War is proud to sponsor the Big Band Era competition in honor of the U.S.S. Arizona Band. Bands who participate in the competition by playing a Big Band Era piece will be eligible to win $500.00, a trophy and a big thank you for honoring the memory of the U.S.S. Arizona band.  

The U.S.S. Arizona Band which was about to play the Star-Spangled Banner on December 7, 1941, when the attack on Pearl Harbor began. The Arizona band trained together, performed together, fought together, and died together. All 21 band members lost their lives in the attack.

As FDR said, “December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy…”
